Some Short-eared Owls Asio flammeus have again decided to spend the winter at Ljubljansko barje, on the outskirts of Slovenia's capital. Like last winter, also this time I payed an evening visit to the grassy fields of the Ljubljana marsh. At sunset two beautiful Short-eared Owls put on show for more than 15 minutes, quartering the fields and frequently landing on the ground. There wasn't enough light for photography, so again, Mitja Denac lent me some of his daytime shots of the owls from November (more on this website). A thank to him also for the directions to the site!
