160th!

Lesser Black-back...is back
Aptly named Little Grebe
Local patch: this morning I went down to Miramare and added Little Grebe to my patch list, thus rising it to 160 recorded species since 2005. A good milestone. Little Grebe is rare on the sea, but around Miramare a few odd individuals appear sometimes. Until today I had no real motivation to go and search for one.
On the gull-covered quay an old acquaintance was standing: an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL. Most probably the old returning individual since 2005 or maybe before. Faithful to its usual perches. It showed well and quite close (above).
