Black-throated Divers

Local patch: first BLACK-THROATED DIVERS of the season this morning at Miramare - 6 handsome birds swimming in flock, close to shore and giving brilliant views (above).
Another new winter arrival was a RED-NECKED GREBE in the bay of Grignano.
I also heard a BLACK WOODPECKER calling in the nearby woodland - literally a few meters above sea level!
The garden this morning was again full of Coal Tits, with up to 6 birds seen. A nice Short-toed Treecreeper visited the plum-tree, a Jay stole some sunflower seeds from the birdtable and Siskins were heard passing overhead. Dunnocks, Black Redstarts and Blue Tits all regular now. Earlier in the morning also a Grey Wagtail flew over the house.
Pretty much autumn standard.
