An unexpected clear day

A bit of morning and early afternoon birding, today between Isola della Cona and Valle Cavanata (GO). Some interesting birds appeared as usual.
At Isola della Cona among White-fronted and Greylag Geese, there were also two Bean Geese. In the inner marsh a male Tufted Duck was swimming along with a female Goldeneye. Thanks to the heavy rainfalls of the past days, there were nice numbers of waders in the flooded fields, including: Curlew (about 100x birds or more), Lapwing, Common Sandpiper and two Redshanks. The few passerines included some Siskins, Water Pipits and some Reed Buntings.
Instead Valle Cavanata yielded: the usual female SMEW (within other diving ducks), Pochard (200x), some females Tufted Ducks and a nice hybrid POCHARD x FERRUGINOUS DUCK (see pic below). Then two Pygmy Cormorants flew over, a Black-throated Diver along the ducks, some Red-breasted Mergansers on the sea, a Greenshank and some Penduline Tits in the high bushes.

Hybrid Pochard x Ferruginous Duck; note the light-yellowish eye, brown-chestnut breast (not black), darker back and white under the tail.
