Winter delights


Great Grey Shrike (by DomenS)


This morning I was in the lowland habitat of Belvedere near Aquileia (GO). The highlights were:
Goshawk (1x female)
Woodpigeon (large flocks, feeding on fields)
Skylark
Woodlark (4x together)
Water Pipit
Meadow Pipit (in flock, 30-40x)
Stonechat (1 m + 1 f)
SIBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF (tristis ssp; in bushes, seen well, call heard)
Goldcrest
GREAT GREY SHRIKE (2x)
Jackdaw
Corn Bunting (at least 30x together on wires)
Mixed flocks including:
Brambling
Chaffinch
Siskin
Linnet
Goldfinch
Greenfinch
Reed Bunting

In the afternoon at Isola della Cona (apart from the usual species) also:
White-fronted Goose
Hen Harrier
Sparrowhawk (on tree, being mobbed by the Hen Harrier)
MERLIN (1x f perching on a bush, then disappearing in the reedbed)
Water Rail
Lapwing
Curlew
